Topic: BGinfo on Server 2012Posted: 16 January 2013 at 2:33pm |

I have downloaded BGinfo. I can configure it and when I hit preview it does preciew but when I select apply it closes the display. When I run as administrator the following "c:\bginfo\bginfo.exe C:\bginfo\config.bgi /silent /accepteula /timer:0" all I get is the background screen color to change. I copied to a windows 2008 R2 server and tried it and it worked fine. Does BGinfo work on windows 2012 or am I doing something wrong?

Sorry to say but this software is getting extremely old. We have been begging for an update for years. Looks like that is never going to happen. -WS

whilst bginfo4 is a good program, it needs Cygwin on the server.
the aims to deploy less software to servers, not more. and its pretty hard to justify adding the cygwin layer just to add info to the desktop. so I am not suprised that people would rather just drop bginfo than add more crud to their server builds. On X, yeah sure its good. On Windows, it's not worth it. |
