Mark, you are a magician, and I think this is desperately need.
My system has developed some bugs with video codecs, and it seems my choice is deleting keys in the registry or reinstalling windows... It would be marvelous if you could make a tool which would scan all the direct show and wfv codecs and notice missing files or other errors and give the user a way to clean out errors and missing stuff. |

Doesn't work. SFC isn't about codecs. (And I tried, didn't fix anything) |

Starfield, you can try K-Lite Codec Tweak Tool if you're desperate. But be warned, sometimes it can cause more harm than good. Codecs are complex and the programs that install them aren't always programmed well. GL |

Ok, I see people are not getting this.
I am not asking for help I'm asking for Mark to make a new tool - something which can't cause more harm than good. I'm unsubscribing from the notifications from this thread now. |

Mark won't create such tool, because there are are so many codecs available. The buildin ones in Windows can repaired with sfc.exe and the other codes must be repaired by running their installer again.
