Hi,
On a DELL laptop (latitude XT2 with touch-screen and fingerprint reader), sometimes I am unable to log in after resume from either sleep or hibernate. The logon screen appears and I am able to interact with the password box (i.e type the password either through keyboard or onscreen touch keyboard), but after I press enter nothing happens! The behaviour is completely erratic and sometimes I will be able to login normally several times in a row (sometimes I get reports that the fingerprint sensor is not ready, but I am still able to login through keyboard-based auth), and then all of a sudden the problem creeps up again. When I try to "switch user", then the logon prompt disappears and the user-selection never appears again, leaving me with just the empty logon background and a responsive mouse :) I have to power off and loose my entire session before I put the laptop to sleep. RDC is also impossible to the machine when in this state (logon background and no logon prompt). I am not sure about the chain of events during logon (winlogon -> logonui -> ?) and need suggestions on how to debug this thing. An additional problem is that it is absolutely not reproducible :( No connection to the power state, as far as I was able to test (happens more frequently on battery power, though..) Any advice on how to troubleshoot this? thanks! |
