Hi, I have used the tools from Systinternals for some years now. Until resently the Pagedefrag tool worked fine on any windows installation/OS version. While testing it on a defregemted compaq evo with win2k and sp4 the tool took about 5min to complate. After the login on the Windows machine a got a strange error msg:"your out of pagefile or it doest't exists on your system". Strange msg, when I checked my pagefile was present on the filesystem. Upon restart I disabled the pagedefrag tool and the error msg disappered. This has newer happen on any computer where I have tested pagedefrag before, I have tested the tool om approximately hundred computers.

Does anyone have any similar feedback. By the way thank's for all the nice tools guys!!

Hi,

This is my first contribution to this forum, and it should began by a HUGE THANX A LOT YOU SYSINTERNALS GUYS!!! You're a kind of good genius for poor administrators who have to "fight" every days into Windows arcanes!!! Your software suite is so valuable. By the way, is there a kind of Paypal policy, or do we have just to go to Winternals and pass to the "pro" stage?!

I reply to this post because it's the only one I found about PageDefrag. I may have a similar remark to add.

I used PageDefrag occasionnaly. As I decided to run it at every boot, it causes a strange error: One of my two swap files didn't recreate, and Windows claims to have insufficient swap memory. After a short analysis, I understand that this should be caused by the fact that I got a swap file which fill "entirely" its own swap partition.

I run Windows 2K SP4 and PageDefrag 2.3. This swap partition is 1027Mo length, and the swap file, accordingly to Windows rule, is 1022Mo length (partition's size minus 5Mo).

At boot time, PageDefrag claims that there's not enough free space left on the partition in order to defrag. That may be right, but in this case, leave it as it is, because I think it should already be in one fragment. I don't get why this error message should lead to the non creation of the swap file when Windows came to this stage during the boot.

Any idea?
Thx a lot.
Regards, Mikee.
