Hi,
same problem here.
psexec.exe is started from a batchfile which is started from a java-program and the psexec.exe hangs. The batchfile starts from console and all runs correctly.

I've tried several solutions from this forum and i've recognized, that the psexec.exe runs with the parameter -i correctly, but it doesn't deliver output Cry

In addition the batchfile, which is copied to the remote-pc, hangs everytime in the same line (2nd echo-command). I've tried to redirect an inputstream into the psexec.exe  with "<nul" and the batchfile hangs in the same line, when it's started from console.

Speculation:
I guess the psexec.exe fails everytime it gets an inputstream (from console via "<file" or from Java/other application via ProcessBuilder or similar). It fails also, if the stream is empty. But i've no workaround for this problem. Sleepy

OK. I know what subsystem dlls are but what are windows dlls?

Last edition of WI book shows that system and services processes cal windows dlls, then windows dlls call Ntdll.dll functions. I am just asking what "windows dlls"are? What is the difference between subsystem dlls?

this picture seams to be from an older book version (3rd Edition : Win 2000or 4th : WinXP/2003).

Under Windows, user applications don’t call the native Windows operating
system services directly, they go through one or more subsystem dynamic-link libraries (Kernel32.dll, Advapi32.dll, User32.dll, Gdi32.dll).
The role of the subsystem DLLs is to translate a documented function into the appropriate internal
(and generally undocumented) native system service calls.

The screenshot shows a huge disk usage and a delay when no disk activity occurs but the CPU is busy. Tracking the file is too big, I am ADSL access, upload to long time. I now use xperfview.exe open the file and shot down, would you please help me to analyze the reason of slow start. Start slow mainly in the XP boot rolling strip there, kept rolling. About to roll16 times. I don't know what causes this. Thank you for helping me. Screenshot position at:

Autologon is not working on Windows 7 SP1 machine. Even after rebooting the machine, it still asks for the password.

Hi

In windows Internals book, under "Key System Components" chapter, there is a big figure named "Windows Architecture".

That diagram shows that System Processes and Services use "Windows dlls", but User Applications use "Subsystem dlls".

What is the differences between them? Don't both of them indicate kernel32.dll, user32.dll, gdi32.dll, etc...?


Here, this is another diagram this one shows System Processes don't use windows or subysstem dlls. But Windows Internals books says they do.  Which one is true?
