Hello everyone!

I'm having a sysfader error on only one website. System is completely clean, no suspect browser addons or any toolbar, all patches, updates, etc.

IE8, Server 2003 Standard.

Event log:

Application popup: SysFader: iexplore.exe - Application Error : The instruction at "0x3fa079b8" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The memory could not be "read".

some facts:

1. If I disable all browser addons, the problem still occurs;
2. If I start a InPrivate browser session, the problem does not occur;
3. Display is Intel G45/G43, not NVidia (famous for sysfader errors)

I would be grateful for any solution!

Hi,

please try to get a crash dump of the IE crash. Use adplus (http://www.msfn.org/board/topic/130003-creating-memory-dumps/) or procdump to create the dump. Now zip the dump and upload it.

We were haunted by the error
SysFader:iexplore.exe - Application Error
The instruction at "0x--------" referenced memory at "0x00000008". The memory could not be "read".

This happened on "all" pages running on SharePoint 2010 that were designed and styled by an external company.

They have been troubleshooting this extensively, and have found that a certain CSS tag can cause the SysFader problems in IE8.
!important was the culprit for us!

I have also seen other posts mentioning a CSS hack for IEPNGFIX.htc, see http://sowenga.net/ie8-crash-due-to-sysfaderexe-css-fix

I hope this helps others with SysFader issues - we certainly wasted hours and hours on settings, GPO's, driver updates and more..
