WinXP SP2 on a laptop.
C:\>pslist
pslist v1.28 - Sysinternals PsList The curious thing about this error is that perfmon.msc runs fine on this machine, as well as ProcExplorer, editing the columns to provide additional performance counters.
I've seen the discussion about
lodctr.exe /r %windir%\system32\PerfStringBackup.ini
The date on this file is yesterday, after applying MS SQLServer SP2 maintenance (manually, because MS Update does not work).
Why is pslist the only program to fail? Perhaps this is a clue:
C:\>lodctr.exe /r %windir%\system32\PerfStringBackup.ini
Error in file: C:\WINDOWS\system32\PerfStringBackup.ini.
drivername parameter was not found in the [info] section of the file There is no [info] section in this file. How does one recover from errors like this?
Like others in the thread, I want to do some logging of process behaviour over time. I'm also looking at tasklist.
Ideally, I would like to customize procexp.exe for the columns/frequency I need, and run that from the command line (not a gui).
