I suppose but not really, we got monitoring systems already. And Process Explorer is already logging historical data anyway. Needs a checkbox allow "old tasks" to not dissappear - not sure how much coding is involved though.

I mean in general as well its a nice feature. Haven't you ever had some task flash up briefly and dissappear? Rather discomforting not knowing what it was.

Mark, I've seen a few requests of this type recently.  Could it be time for Winternals to produce "Process Explorer Pro"?

True but thats not going to tell you what the CPU usage was.. getting a list of previous processes is not a problem.

What would really be cool is if PE could keep "killed" or previous processes in the process list so that historical CPU usage can be monitored.

There is currently no tool that can do this that I am aware of.

Its very usefull in a server environment where you have CGI apps runnning that start using 100% CPU. By the time you have logged in the CPU is back to normal and you don't know which process was the culprit. (since its CGI its no longer running).
