Hi
I googled and found Process Explorer v11.11 at http://www.filehippo.com/software/cleaning/ I grabbed Autoruns v9.13 at the same time. These are the last versions that worked for Win98, reported in these forums. Besides that, thank you guys for these great utilities! Peace, Blessings and Grace Dave PS>I hope this is not problem for those who like talking in legalese! |

Just installed v11.13 and confirmed it doesn't work on Windows 98SE. It doesn't show any error message. The task manager shows the exe file but nothing happens. This was a really annoying and unexpected surprise because till now i had nothing but excellent comments to say about the sysinternals applications but this was really disappointing, especially because the sysinternals page said it runs on Windows 9X. It took me a while to find out on the net the 11.11 version which i think is the latest version that runs on Windows 9X.
I think 11.11 version should be available for download on the sysinternals page for those Windows 9x users who were victim of this error.

So it may just be a rumour and not come true. As a matter of fact, it will not. </Blush> Edited by Karlchen - 15 May 2008 at 3:26pm |

FWIW, looks like building for WinNT and 9x is not just as simple as manipulating the SUBSYSTEM linker switch, as previously discussed...

Good evening,
I confirm that this version 11.13 still does not work under Windows Me, despite what was said. Sincerely |

Thanks. I was hoping Process Explorer could get me out of a highly time-sensitive jam with a legacy machine at work by today. Glad to know kneeling in blind obedience at the alter of legalese now takes precedent over helping someone in need - with a 100% public, freeware program no less.
People could distinguish between the letter and the spirit of the law in my day. In emergencies, sometimes we even let others borrow copies of retail software. I know, the felonious horror. |

I see complete lack of testing on the legacy operation systems.
11.13 doesn't working under Windows 98 original. |

Hi, pishposh. Hi, redhawk.
<No warranty given> There are vagues rumours to the effect that the support for Win9x/WinME might be restored within the course of this month. (No more rumours, the opposite is true.) <Clarification> It is a known fact that P.E. v11.13 does not run on Win9x/WinME. So watch out for a P.E. version higher than v11.13 in the near or faraway future. </Clarification> </No warranty given>
Karl -- <Added> ProcessExplorer and Win9x/ME, those days seem to be over forever. </added> Edited by Karlchen - 15 May 2008 at 3:28pm |
