Another tool that might be of interest is the hIOmon I/O Monitor tool.  For example, you can configure it to collect an I/O operation trace at both the file level and at the underlying disk level concurrently (kind of like Filemon and Diskmon combined).

It can also automatically correlate the disk I/O operations with the associated file I/O operations (e.g., it can display the file name associated with the disk I/O operation) as well as collect, display and export summarized correlated metrics without having to collect an I/O trace.

Hi Chet,

Wonder if this post may be of interest...
(Note - I haven't tried it, etc...  Just thought I would pass it along...)

My system's performance seems to be hammered by disk I/O.

If I run filemon, and select the various drive I don't see any activity.

If I run diskmon, I see tons of i/o identified only by sector number.

Is there a tool to convert sector number into filename?

Thanks.
