I'm sorry, I don't seem to be too consistent then ;P.
Alright; so Sysinternals tools always use OS built-in functions? Well, it seems Windows DOES have SOME sort of support for this. There is eneugh software that manages to achieve this. But it's often heavy, some don't work right, works once, but after that it just breaks and doesn't create the second desktop anymore. At start it only created them AFTER loggin in, which is still okay, but after that it just throws unknown errors. Am I allowed to mention this piece of software? Well, I don't know if there are possibilities to achieve this the SYSINTERNALS-Way, but if there ARE, it would be godly wonderful. I just had an idea: RDP also allows for more than one user to work on a single PC. It creates sessions and "sends" their content to the other pc. Wouldn't that be possible for another screen? Since Windows can also take those RDP opened sessions and put them on the terminal... But wouldn't that mean that you have to open two "terminals"? I just have to say I'm not someone understanding much about any kernel stuff. I just have suggestions, and that would MAYBE even work. Most likely not, huh? |

![]() Seems like it may be better to have at least some of this support come from the OS... |

Since desktops has a completely new approach on virtual desktop management, having more than one "surface" with it's own Explorer.exe rather than just hiding and showing different windows, I was thinking if it would be possible, to show each of those desktops on a different screen, with a seperate cursor on each.
Looks like only small changes in Desktops would make it show the other desktop on the second screen. If I'm wrong, correct me, I only do a little VB.NET, thats all of my experience in programming. The hardest thing would be to build virtual device drivers for the other mouse to control the mouse on the second screen - or - could they just be "assigned" to the window manager they should belong to? I don't know how it works in Windows, only a little in Linux, you could just assign mice to your window manager, or, not assign them. P. s.: I do know that there is commercial software doing this. But I think theres always another approach. Sysinternals seems to often do things more the "Windows inside"-way. They're called SysINTERNALS, right? P. p. s.: Umm, yeah, thanks for the move, but I was refering to a NEW tool which uses functionality of Desktops but uses device drivers and stuff to make it possible, that two users can use the same pc. But it's okay admin moved it to Misc. Utilities. I don't want to object ;) Edited by sinni800 - 28 December 2008 at 4:12pm |
