So long as you're satisfied things are working... I suppose the software doesn't permit one to export the config files to some format that lends itself well to comparison... |

Not really. They're not XML or something, but partly readable and partly gibberish, so I can't do that without switching the files repeatedly, which, to be honest, I am too lazy to do.

Hmm... can you compare the config files, to try to determine what specifically may have been affecting user switching?

No, but I just renamed the firewall's configuration file, thus forcing it to create a new, empty one, and it seems to work now.

I would imagine there are a number of things going on - winlogon.exe, for one... Does the firewall log have any useful detail?

The Outpost forum and Google seem not to know anything about this problem, the configuration also is not useful. My only guess is that the firewall is blocking some Windows executable or dll because it is new to the firewall and it wants me to create a rule, which I can not do since the screen is already black. Do you know what file is responsible for the user switch, so I can check in the applications list?

I'm not familiar with the product; have you checked Outpost forums, etc. to see if other users may be experiencing the same behavior? Have you checked the configuration options for the software, to see if there is something that may allow you to affect the behavior when switching users?

Thanks for the tip, it seems that my firewall is responsible, which puzzles me a little, since it runs as a service and should also prevent the user switch from the locked session. I use the Outpost Firewall 2009 Free, any ideas?
