The event logs say that some drivers could not be loaded in safe mode, among these are the av and firewall drivers.

Do the security software's drivers load in safe mode? They could potentially still be impacting the installation... Is anything logged to the event logs?

Have you disconnected from the Internet, uninstalled A/V / security software, and tried to install SP2?
What happens if you try installing SP2 in safe mode? Or, from another user account? |

Yes, I tried running the SP1-setup again, but it says that SP1 is already installed and aborts.
I don't know exactly, the cbs.log entries are quite confusing for me, if you want I can post them. Running sfc /scannow again did not do anything, it says that it found no errors, SP2 still won't install. |

Hey,
I purchased the computer with a preinstalled Vista with SP1, so I believe that this is the final version. I also don't think uninstalling it is possible in this case. I ran sfc /scannow and it said that it repaired some files, but the SP2-installer still demands the SP1. |

Hi Ilinsekt01,
I'm not inclined to think the referenced event from Procmon is significant in this case.
Have you tried uninstalling / reinstalling SP1? Or perhaps running SFC /SCANNOW? Edited by molotov - 02 June 2009 at 11:39am |

Hey,I downloaded the Windows Vista SP2 final yesterday and tried to install it, but it won't install and always demands the installation of SP1. I definitly know that SP1 is installed, so I checked the c:\windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log, and it says there
Does anyone know how to unlock this file? Ilinsekt Edited by Ilinsekt01 - 27 May 2009 at 11:20am |
