Hello again, Are here, on Sysinternals forum, Win2K users really that rare?
I need this simple answer very much... it is very important for correct operation of my machine, but can't get response anywhere.
Once again, please just look into your registry for UpperFilters and particularly LowerFilters...
Thanks.

Come on, please... it only takes to run regedit or regedt32 and navigate to:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ SYSTEM\ CurrentControlSet\ Control\ Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} to read out the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values then post them here. I can't believe that Win2K users are so "rare birds" these days.
Thanks in advance. |

Hello again.
I had Roxio Easy CD Creator 5 Platinum installed on my Win2K system, which left huge amount of trash registry keys, as well as leftovers in DVD/CDROM drives' Upper and Lower filters.
Unfortunately, I don't have a snapshot of registry before Creator was installed, so I don't know the default filters on Win2K systems.
What I'm interested is (if someone can please provide) the default values of Class UpperFilters and LowerFilters, i.e. the value of those REG_MULTI_SZ objects in this reg key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
Also, I would like to ask whether Win2K supports Device Upper/Lower filters, i.e. REG_MULTI_SZ values UpperFilters and LowerFilters in the reg key like:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\IDE\CdRomPLEXTOR_DVDR___PX-716A__________________1.10____\5&20ff319f&0&0.0.0
just like WinXP does?
I noticed that there is a redbook.sys with System startup type (Start = 1), but in its Enum subkey there is a recurring INITSTARTFAILED REG_DWORD with value of 1 and the driver is not loaded. However, my DVD drives work correctly. Should I for any reason put redbook.sys in the Class UpperFilters?
Thanks in advance for any advices on this.
Cheers.
