Unlisted shell extensions

   Greetings,

After installing Adobe Reader a shell extension named 'pdfshell.dll' will be loaded each time Windows Explorer starts. This shell extension will execute 'acrord32info.exe' when a PDF file is selected to provide Windows Explorer with some additional information about the file. This behaviour can be stopped by unregistering 'pdfshell.dll'.

Is there a reason why this shell extension is not listed in Autoruns? And does this apply to similar shell extensions as well?

	It shows up for me under HKLM\Software\Classes\Folder\Shellex\ColumnHandlers on the Explorer tab

	Thank you for your reply. After removing the entry you specified the shell extension will still be loaded by Windows Explorer even though there are no entries listed by Autoruns. How is this shell extension still loaded by Windows Explorer?

	Don't know. Possibly through the entry in HKCR\CLSID. You could use Process Monitor to find out.
